Until I had children of my own, I didn't realize things about life that were actually profoundly important.
Like the little itty bitty hairs that stand straight out along a newborn babies ear.
The way a yawn brings a smile to all faces present.
That baby toes are amazing. Even when slightly smelly. And they have the power to turn the biggest foot-loather to mush.
That the first meaningful touch of your babies hand will undoubtedly bring a tear to your eye.
Baby wrinkles, no matter where, are the. best. things. ever.
That the part where the forehead and bridge of nose meet - is the best place to kiss.
The oilier the hair, the better. Means that baby is loved beyond measure, and spends a great deal of time being snuggled up where it counts; the necks of loved ones.
Eyebrows. And you smile when you catch yourself thinking how the girls are going to love those.
A sleeping baby is one of life's most beautifully peaceful things.
They are your everything. Much like a flickering fire, you catch yourself staring for hours.
And you're a big deal to them.
A mother's love is something all the books write about. But can never be understood until that first moment you hold your baby. Even then, it's too great to understand, you're just content when your chest aches because it's so in love.
